A DBB (double block and bleed) ball valve is a type of valve designed to provide effective sealing in piping systems, ensuring isolation from both sides of the valve, with the added ability to bleed pressure between the two isolated sections. Double Block (DB):<\/b><\/p>\n

A DBB ball valve has two seating surfaces (blocks) that can isolate the pressure on the upstream and downstream sides of the valve. These two blocks prevent the passage of any fluid or gas when the valve is closed. <\/span><\/p>\n

The two blocks are normally created by using two separate ball valves in one body or two sealing mechanisms in one valve.<\/span><\/p>\n

Bleed (B):<\/b><\/p>\n

A bleed mechanism (usually a small valve) is placed between the two blocks. It allows the pressure trapped between the two sealing surfaces to be released (or vented). This feature helps to confirm that the valve is properly isolating the flow and can also be used to safely depressurise or drain the system for maintenance purposes. <\/span><\/p>\n
