Three-way ball valves are used in applications with more than one pipe or to divert fluid in two different directions. Depending on the direction of flow, the three ports are assigned as one output and two inputs or one input and two outputs. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Three-way ball valves<\/strong> have three ports and can be operated manually or automated with an electric or pneumatic actuator. The hole through the ball comes in two varieties: port “L” and “T”. Three-way valves can:
\u2022 Shut off or close the flow
\u2022 Switch the flow between two different sources
\u2022 Combine the flow from two different sources
\u2022 Alternate flow between two different destinations
\u2022 Divert the flow from one source to another destination

Types of 3-way ball valves: L and T. <\/strong><\/h3>\n

In L you can send flow in one way or another or you can close it completely. The difference is that 3-way T-valves cannot shut off the fluid. They can also mix flows from both sides. The \u201cT\u201d and \u201cL\u201d refer to the shape of the ball opening.
A 3-way ball valve operates by turning the handle, which rotates the ball inside the valve body to align the cutout channels in the ball with the valve inlets and outlets. The “L” cut sends fluid through 90 degrees from one port to another. The T-shaped cut can be sent from one port to another, but it can also be rotated so that the T causes the three ports to mix.
To close all flows in a 3-way T-port valve, a separate valve must be added to the two opposite branches. To close the flow, the two valves must be closed and the ball in the 3-way valve turned towards the back of the valve.<\/p>\n

L-valves can only direct the flow through 90 degrees or shut it off completely.
T-valves can direct the flow in any desired manner, but cannot shut it off completely.<\/p>\n
